I was in the drugstore the other day and happened upon a blush that I couldn’t pass up. pH Matchmaker Powered Blush by Physician’s Formula seemed so gimmicky that I had to have it! Seriously, it says it matches your skin in 60 seconds! The copy on the box reads “The blush reacts to light and your pH for your perfect blushing glow”. I thought, well this should be either clown makeup or something rather akin to it. It has a Flourescein based dye in it that senses the pH level of the skin and adjusts within 60 seconds to create the perfect blushing glow. There are also Photochromic powders that adjust to the environment so color looks the same inside and outside. The compact features an LED light for touch ups.
I purchased Natural, thinking it would be the best color. There was one other color but I didn’t get the name of it. I applied the blush and found it to be rather strong at first, as I predicted. So I toned it down with MAC’s Blot powder. Throughout the day I checked on it and it actually toned down and seemed to get better. I thought, well, that is good. In the end, the blush requires a very, very light hand to be applied. It does look good even at the end of the day, which is unusual since so many blushes fade by then. That is a plus in my book. There was a $2.00 coupon on the box, so it was $11.95-$2.00=$9.95. I am not recommending it based on the fact that it is really just a gimmick and there are so many blushes out there that are better for the price. I would rather have a MAC Mineralize blush instead, which is much more pigmented and not much more money.
