TOO FACED NATURAL AT NIGHT

    100_9948100_9949
Too Faced puts out the cutest palettes and I must own every one of them it seems! For spring they have extended the theme of their nude and natural look to Natural at Night. This is a collection of nine eyeshadows that are all brown based. As usual, they are quite lovely on. The pigmentation is good and they blend well. The palette is divided into three looks, Fashion, Classic and Night. I find that the shadows do mix well with each other into different looks though. There are also cards that come with the palette. You pick one and it shows you how to create the perfect natural eye.
    100_9981100_9971100_9988100_9955100_9960
For this first look I used Night Fever (dark shimmery cocoa) in the crease, Moon Stone (shimmery Khaki) defining the crease, on the outer edge of the lid and under the eye. I then used After Hours (shimmery medium taupe) on the lid and Night Light under the brow (shimmery nude pinky-brown). For lining I used Make Up For Ever liquid liner #11 and MAC False Lashes in Black. The look was very sultry I found.
    100_9991100_9992100_9996100_9997100_9999
For this second look I went with colors that were not as shimmery. I used Nightcap (slightly shimmery khaki) in the crease. The I used Cocoa Star underneath that to define the crease a little more, also placing it on the outer edge of the lid and underneath the lid. I used Full Moon (shimmery gold) on the lid and Spotlight (matte cream) under the brow. I finished with MAC’s Super Slick liner in Definitely Feline (dark taupe) and Haute & Naughty Lash Mascara in Black.

I find all of the colors in this palette to be very warm in general, if you are cool toned you might want to skip this one unless you feel like taking a walk on the wild side for a change. This palette retails for $36.00 and can be found at www.toofaced.com, www.ulta.com and Ulta retail outlets, www.sephora.com and Sephora retail outlets. I am happy with it but, as I mentioned, I am generally pretty happy with the quality and style of the palettes that Too Faced puts out. Let me know what you think!

YIPPEE! URBAN DECAY DOES A FOLLOW UP WITH THE NAKED 2 PALETTE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

    100_9407100_9409100_9448
As you know I am crazy about the following: Urban Decay, eyeshadows and palettes! I was so happy to learn on December 1, 2011 that they came out with a follow up to my favorite palette, the Naked palette. The Naked 2 palette has 12 shadows, a small eyeliner and a small sample of lipgloss. Five of the eyeshadows are new ones, which is my only big gripe with this palette.

The shadows in this palette are: Foxy (matte medium cream), Half Baked (shimmery bronze), Bootycall (light shimmery champagne), Chopper (medium shimmery bronze tone with glitter), Tease (matte medium brown), Snakebite (dark shimmery brown), Suspect (shimmery grayish brown), Pistol (shimmery dark gray), Verve (shimmery light silver), YDK (very shimmery mauve brown), Busted (slightly shimmery dark brown) and Blackout (matte black). The 24/7 Pencil included is El Dorado (gold). The sample of gloss that is included is the Naked shade (pinkish brown). It also includes a nibe mirror to use and a crease/shader brush.
    100_9420100_9412100_9417100_9416100_9415
I did two looks from this palette. For this look I used Snakebite in the crease. Pistol was used in the outer corner of the eye and under the eye. On the lid I used YDK and under the brow I used Bootycall. I think Bootycall makes a great shadow for either opening the eye on the lid or under the brow in general! Then I used Smog 24/7 liquid liner on the upper lid and L’Oreal’s False Lashes mascara in Black. For the cheeks I used Pixi’s Lumi Lux Bronze Palette. On the lips I used NYX Mega Shine in Pink Frost.
    100_9425100_9427100_9429100_9437100_9432
This look has the eyes looking somewhat smokier even though some of the colors I used were a little lighter. This time I used Tease in the crease, then put Busted just below the crease and in the outer corner of the lid. I used Busted just under the eye too. I used Verve on the lid and Foxy under the Brow. MAC’s Definitely Feline Superslick Liquid Liner and L’Oreal False Lashes in Black were also used on the eye. On the cheeks I used Benefit’s Dandelion. The lips are a brownish silver with MAC’s Soft Sable.
This palette is currently available on the
www.urbandecay.com for $50.00. Worth it? For me yes. I love their shadows and I think they are worth every penny. Tons of pigmentation and not very powdery. I am doing the happy dance!!!!!!

REVIEW: STILA’S IN THE MOMENT PALETTE, A GREAT FIND ON SEPHORA.COM!

    100_9406100_9373100_9403

I was poking around on Sephora.com the other day and came upon this great little palette in the Stila section. The “In The Moment” palette called out to me because I had never seen it before. It has ten eyeshadows, all of which I also had never seen before. I had to get it to stem my palette desires! The shadows in this palette are generally pretty great in terms of payoff and pigment. If you look at the photograph up top here, they are as follows: Instict (shimmery light cream), Impulse (shimmery light lavender), Glance (dark shimmery imperial purple), Improvise (dark shimmery purple), Catalyst (shimmery black), Desire (matte cream), Wonder (shimmery light coppery cream) , Spontaneous (shimmery gold), Whim (shimmery brownish copper) and Captivate (shimmery purplish brown). The palette also comes with a waterproof Smudge Stick in Tetra, a copper. This palette runs $39.00 and is only available at www.sephora.com. I think it is a pretty good value and gift idea.

    100_9379100_9381100_9402100_9396100_9390

For the look here I used Captivate in the crease then added Glance to the deeper part of the crease and also used Glance in the outer area of the lid and under the eye. I used Impulse on the lid and Instinct under the brow. For lining I used a Stila Sparkle Waterproof liquid liner in Rock Candy on the upper lid and for mascara I used L’Oreal’s False Lashes mascara in Black. On my cheeks I used Clinique’s Fresh Bloom cheek color in Peony and on the lips Flirt’s lipstick in Fairy (a gorgeous shimmery bluish pink).

I do a lot of purple looks because purple looks good on me and really brings out the green in my eyes. And yes, I do a lot of Stila because I still have an attachment to the brand. I am finding that Stila is really rocking it lately with their palettes. I used four colors yesterday and only one color didn’t really have much pigment or payoff for me and that one was Impulse, the shimmery lavender. I still think this would make a great gift or something that you can ask for from someone. Smile

NEED A HOLIDAY GIFT? TRY THE LORAC BEJEWELED GIFT SET. GUARANTEED TO MAKE SOMEONE HAPPY!

    100_9015100_9016100_9017100_9018100_9019100_9020100_9021100_9022

My two favorite things rolled into one, a great value and a large palette. Can you imagine how happy I am right now just having this in my possession? Just for the eyeshadows alone I am jumping up and down (as much as I can) with joy. This palette retails for $56 at www.sephora.com.

The top opens to reveal a bronzer and two lipglosses: peach and rose. Then there are two drawers, each containing an eyeshadow palette with an eyeliner. The Day shadow palette has sixteen shadows and one blush and a brown eyeliner. The Night shadow palette also has sixteen shadows, a blush and a black eyeliner. I have gone through all of these years and have never used Lorac products. Big mistake. These shadows are amazing in quality. Very soft and buttery, with good payoff. The blush is highly pigmented too. The eyeliner is also creamy in texture. I used the peach gloss and thought it was very pigmented with a lot of staying power. I can say that this is a worthy gift OR something you might want to keep for yourself…hint, hint. Smile

Day Look with the Day Palette of Shadows:

    100_9106100_9124100_9109100_9111100_9116100_9126

On this swatch photo I took swatches of the first two rows of shadows, the blush, the peach lipgloss and the brown liner. For the look I used a shimmery mauve shadow in the crease, a shimmery copper shadow on the outer edge of the lid and under the eye. On the lid I used a very shimmery champagne color and then a light shimmery beige under the brow. I lined with Urban Decay’s liquid liner in Demolition, which is almost undetectable. For mascara I used L’Oreal’s Voluminous False Lashes in Black. On my cheeks I used the peachy blush from the palette. The Peach gloss was used on my lips. I must say, if all LORAC’s glosses are like this I will be using them in the future! The same goes with the shadows, very nice payoff and pigmentation.

I highly recommend this as a gift to any woman in your life, she will love it! Thanks, The Makeup Junkie…

KAT VON D’S POETICA PALETTE: MAKE YOUR EYES POP!

    100_8890100_8891100_8915
Earlier this year I purchased a Kat Von D palette from Sephora because it was on sale. I was surprisingly happy with the quality of the shadows. I resigned myself to purchase another one if the colors called out to me and the price was right. This week I was lucky enough to have the VIB discount so while taking my kids to the mall I happened to be browsing in Sephora and came upon this lovely gem. It has three purple shades and one lovely bright orange shade. I said this baby is mine! This palette is available at www.sephora.com for $35.00.

The palette has eight shadows and one liner in it. The shadows (from left to right) are: Forgiveness (shimmery cream), Sand Timer (shimmery nude beige), Chandler (bright coppery orange), Tijuana (shimmery black), Wonderland (shimmery dark purple), Shiba (shimmery medium lavender), Babe (shimmery hypnotic purple) and You Alone (shimmery off white). The liner is a matte black waterproof formula. I will be honest. I practically purchased it for Babe. That color is so gorgeous! I took the swatches wet to get good pictures of them.

100_8905For the look I did today I used Shiba in the crease, then took Tijuana and used it in the outer edge of the lid and also to define the crease some because my eyes are hooded. I also used it under my eye. I used Babe all over my lid which is why it looks bright purple. Then I used You Alone under the brow. I used the black pencil along the upper lash line and for mascara, Maybelline’s Lots of Lashes Great Lash in Black. For the rest of the look I used MAC items, Pet Me blush and Innocence Beware lipstick. I think the eyes came out very nice, Babe is really the star of the show, so to say. I am quite happy with this one.
