DNA EGF Renewal: Scientific Clinical Skincare by Dr. Ronald Moy M.D.

I am not sure if anyone has heard of the current rage in the United Kingdom, but Boots has a serum with a new active ingredient in it that people are raving over (http://www.boots.com/en/BIOEFFECT-EGF-Cellular-Activating-Serum-5ml_1234702/). After I heard of this serum I kept thinking to myself that this couldn’t work that well!

Well, I recently received some very interesting skincare items. They are called DNA EGF RENEWAL by Dr. Ronald Moy. I have to tell you that as an esthetician I was somewhat skeptical. Then I tried them. Sometimes you wait weeks for differences in your skin when you start a new routine or new products. How would you like to hear about differences overnight?
The philosophy of this line is based on DNA Repair Enzymes and Epidermal Growth Factors (EGF) that improve the health of the skin and reverse the signs of aging. The science behind the products come from marine and botanical sources that encourages cells to proliferate and eliminate DNA damage. The barley EGF stimulates cell renewal. Combine the two and the product allows skin cells to stay fresh and young.
The main components of the line are the Growth Factor Serum ($145, 1 oz.), DNA Intensive Renewal ($125, 1 oz.) and the DNA Night Renewal ($130, 1.7 oz.). There is also a DNA Eye Renewal ($70, 0.7 oz.) and a DNA Defense SPF 30 + ($45, 1.7 oz) and a Renewal Foaming Cleanser ($28, 6.7 oz). The DNA EGF Renewal Scar Therapy ($45, 1.7 oz) is a very specialized product that is available.
The main product of the line is the Growth Factor Serum.  It is for all skin types, helps to even skin tone, prevents thinning bruising, reduces pore size, fine lines, wrinkles and age spots. It is used in the evening.



Next we have the DNA Intensive Renewal. I had the pleasure of trying this product. It supplies DNA repair enzymes, restores the skin’s natural lipid barrier, attacks UV rays, prevents age spots and thin skin. It also keeps the skin hydrated, more even-toned and healthier looking. This product is used in the morning. It is not too heavy and helps makeup go on more evenly. I like this product, it didn’t break me out, which is great. I also noticed that one scar I had seems to be going away rather quickly. That is definitely a plus at my age (40).
At night one would use the DNA Night Renewal. I was also lucky enough to try this product too. The DNA Night Renewal has high levels of the active ingredient to counteract age spots, thinning skin and lines and wrinkles. It also speeds up cell turn over. The results are radiant, smooth and firmer skin. This product is a little bit more emollient than the Intensive Renewal, which I expect, but I don’t mind. I didn’t break me out and I like the results I am getting with it.


The DNA Eye Renewal helps target puffiness, dark circles, fine lines and crow’s feet. It has hyaluronic acid to hydrate and Beta-glucan to reduce inflammation. The DNA Dedfense SPF 30+ is a broad spectrum sunscreen that is recommended for daily use that helps prevent sun damage. Renewal Foaming Cleanser has a non irritating amino acid based glycolic acid to help exfoliate skin along with a sulfate free cleansing agent so that the cleanser will cleanse while and remove the dead skin cells and not irritate the skin. It comes in a pump bottle. I tried the cleanser and it foams nicely, cleanses well and has just the slightest odd odor. If you have any scars on your face or body, you might do well to try the scar therapy, which is a serum based therapy with a high concentration of the DNA Repair Enzymes, Silicone Sunflower Seed Oil and Beta Glucan.
I really like this line. It is well worth the money in my opinion. (Keep in mind that the items I received are samples) From an esthetics point of view, it has a number of active ingredients that work. When you spend money on a line or any product, that is what you expect and want when that amount of money is on the line. This line can be found online at www.DNAEGFrenewal.com. Miracle Skin Transformer for the Body SPF 20

Going into winter I was hoping for a moisturizer that would be better than all the others on the shelves.  When I received the cute bottle of Miracle Skin Transformer, I was skeptical. However, when I tried it I was pleasantly surprised. Not many lotions can surprise me these days.

 

This innocuous skin lotion, created by Sarah McNamara Beauty, goes on like a dream and comes in three tones: Sheer Enhancer (clear), Glow Enhancer (Light to Medium) and Bronze Enhancer (Medium to Dark). I tried the Glow Enhancer. The latter two shades have wonderful mineral pigments that help to reduce imperfections on the body. When I applied the lotion on my legs I did notice that they seemed to glow and looked smoother. The Sheer Enhancer is ideal for men who would prefer a daily body moisturizer.

 

Miracle Skin Transformer has an UVA/UVB SPF20 that will protect you from the sun’s rays. It has various botanical extracts. Chamomile calms the skin. Aloe, Cucumber and Vitamin E soothe the skin. To hydrate the skin it has hyaluronic acid, which attracts moisture to the skin. Sculpting and toning the skin, the lotion contains microspheres encapsulated with caffeine that target cellulite. There are high levels of Vitamin B and Amino Acids along with Blue-green Algae to smooth the skin. From the French Polynesian Islands there is a Marine Algae known to improve skin texture and tone and that promotes body circulation.

 

Frankly, it sounds like a lot but in the end creates a wonderful, creamy lotion that enhances my skin and makes it look so much nicer. Miracle Skin Transformer ($34) is available at www.miracleskintransformer.com and Bergdorf Goodman.

Some Good Basic Skin Care to Know: Yes, There is Always Time to Save Your Skin Part: 1

Let me tell you a secret. I am, gulp, 40 years old. I hate to admit it. Seriously. The reason why I am admitting this is because I have great skin and I don’t look 40 years old. I have people come up to me constantly asking for tips and tricks on makeup and skincare. So I thought I would start with some basics. I am an esthetician and makeup artist so I have at least a minimum of knowledge to get you on your way!

 

• Stay out of the sun or use a high SPF sunblock. I know you have heard this time and time again but it is the most important of any message that someone in the industry will tell you. Start early and use it often. I am of Germanic descent so I really have to watch, I burn like a lobster! If you can, pick an SPF with a mineral base. That wnuld be one that has the ingredients titanium dioxide and/or zinc oxide. These work to reflect the sun’s rays and are usually in sunblocks that are called “sensitive skin”. Chemical sunblocks are okay but can cause irritation in some people and they can not be used near the eye area.
• Second, as soon as possible, develop a skincare routine that is appropriate for your age. I have children and they already use moisturizer with sunscreen, body lotion after baths and showers, lip balm and copious amounts of hand cream to combat the dry air. Start your kids on a cleanser, and a light moisturizer with sunscreen at first. Make sure they stay up with it in the summer!
• If you start to develop acne, treat it right. I specialize in acne. It does not always need a physician but you have to also realize when over the counter products aren’t working either. Benzoyl peroxide works well, but it is a prophylactic (preventative) for acne and thus you need to use it all over not as a spot treatment. Also it is very drying to the skin, so those 10% amounts in the drugstore can cause an effect where the skin will produce more oil to compensate for the dryness, thus fueling the acne machine.
• Once you hit 20-30 you need to speed up the exfoliation process. Light peels and scrubs work well for this. The kind that you find at Sephora are great. Make sure to continue with the sunblock. Add an eye cream, very light, to prevent any fine lines from forming. Facials are nice to have once in a while or regularly if there is a condition that would require them.

RIVERSOL!!

I'd like to start out by apologizing for why this entry is so late.  I wanted to do Riversol justice. 


Riversol is a fabulous anti-aging skin care line by internationally-recognized dermatologist Dr. Jason Rivers.  It is run locally in British Columbia, Canada.


Let me tell you something about skin care.  It can be tricky.  There are so many products out there that claim to do this and that and they don't.  So its rare for me to come across a skin care line that does what it claims to do.  Riversol is one of them.  
The nifty thing about Riversol is, their whole product line contains an antioxidant called : thujaplicin (thoo.ya.pli.sin).  Thujaplicin is an extract of the Pacific Red Cedar tree.  It is a potent anti-oxidant that has both anti-inflammatory and anti-microbial properties.
Riversol's full line of products is about simplicity.  There are only 7 products in the T Plus line. 2 cleansers, 4 moisturizers and 1 serum.
Riversol is a great choice for people with common sensitive skin conditions such as rosacea, eczema, and acne.  The entire line is fragrance-free as well as hypoallergenic.  It is also extremely gentle and can be used after most anti-aging skin care treatments as well as laser treatments.  Now THAT is something!


Now, I take pretty good care of my skin. I do everything Im supposed to do and more.  Imagine the surprise when my skin started looking even better!!  

I sampled 4 products. 
T Plus Foaming Gel Cleanser
T Plus Daily Moisturizing Cream
T Plus Revitalizing Eye Cream
T Plus Vitamin C & Vitamin E Serum


Each one is fabulous.  The Gel Cleanser is perfect for all skin types.  It is a gentle cleanser that gives you that clean, fresh-faced feeling after washing.  
The Daily Moisturizing Cream is equally wonderful.  You need so little yet it does so much.  Your skin won't feel oily or sticky.  It feels as though you have nothing on at all, yet your skin is soft and supple.
The Revitalizing Eye Cream does exactly what it claims to do.  It reduces the appearance of dark circles and under-eye puffiness. The cream is so gentle and creamy and dissolves in right away. It is super hydrating and it instantly refreshes around your eye area.
Now the kicker for me was the Serum.  It, in one word, is DIVINE.  I have tried many a serums before. Some did good, some not so much. With this one my skin was ridiculously brighter. It felt soft to touch immediately upon application. It is just FANTASTIC.  It is extremely gentle and is used to help prevent premature aging but because it has Vitamin C, it brightens up the skin as well.  Really, really divine.


Another big plus for me was that all Riversol products made my makeup applications so much easier.  Sometimes some skin care products take too long to absorb or can alter the way makeup goes on.  None of these products did.  It allowed for a smooth application and kept the skin hydrated all day long. And any makeup artist will tell you, that first and foremost, we need products on our clients skin that will not only stay on but will not affect our application.

Question of the Day

I'm 29 and beginning to see aging in my face.  Mainly, around the eyes and around my mouth.  My skin is very sensitive to anything oily and I break out.  I'd like to take care of this aging.  What's an affordable skin routine you think might work for me


If your skin is sensitive, I will also recommend you use Aveeno products.  Aveeno is a wonderful skin care line, that is affordable and will help you with your skin care concerns.  Aveeno uses natural ingredients and works fabulously for sensitive skin as well as all other skin types. Many of their skin care products are hypoallergenic and non-comedogenic


To help with reducing the signs of aging, I would start out by using the Positively Ageless Lifting and Firming Daily Moisturizer for your face.  For eye care, I would recommend you use Positively Ageless Lifting and Firming Eye Cream.


What is equally as important is that you are consistent with your skin care regime.  Especially as we start to age, it gets more and more important that you ensure you stick with your regime day and night.  For day, I would also recommend that you use sunscreen, with a minimum SPF 15.  Exposure to the sun also assist in a quickened aging process for our skin.  Exfoliation is also important to help keep your skin balanced. An Ode to Lancome

Im not a biased makeup artist or makeup junkie. I'll try just about anything because I believe all lines have products that are successful even if I wont use them. However, I do have my favorites.
