LIP TUTORIAL AND A GRIPE!

    101_0183
Recently I had a number of people asking about my lips and how they were done. So I thought I would show you in photos. I will try and do a video tutorial too. I will also be covering the eye makeup as I thought it looked pretty good today. And I have a gripe!

In the first photo you can see my lips are just covered with foundation to act as a base for the lipliner, the foundation I use varies every day. Today I used Maybelline Dream Nude Airfoam. Then I cover my entire lip with lipliner, a light nude brown color. In this second photo you can see that my lips are covered with Cover Girl lipliner in Sublime. I go beyond the boundary of my lipline to create a fuller lip. In the third photo you can see that my lips have lipgloss on them. I decided to use Stila Sparkle Luxe Lipgloss in Fairy Dust, a Pink-Melon tone.

For the rest of my makeup today, I used Urban Decay eyeshadows on my eyes. I used Last Call (gorgeous shimmery dark purple mauve) in the crease, on the outer edge of the lid and under the eye. Then I used Sin (dark shimmery beige) on the lid and Polyester Bride (glittery shimmery white) under the brow. To line the upper lid I used Illamaqua’s Precision Ink in Havoc (burgundy). For mascara I used Maybelline’s Great Lash Lots of Lashes in Black. On the cheeks I used the new Dream Bouncy Blush in Candy Coral (peachy coral).
I do have a big gripe with the Dream Bouncy Blush. I went to use it and I tried it. It was difficult to use. I finally was able to build some up with my fingers after severaluses but then the silly blush collapsed! I don’t recommend this. So now I have a cute colored blush that is collapsed and that doesn’t really deposit any color. I may take it back to Walgreens. It was expensive too!!!! Has anyone else found this to be a problem?

Update to the Maybelline Color Tattoo Post:

Yesterday I used the Pomegranate Punk Color Tattoo shadow with no primer. I applied with a brush and let dry down before I opened my eyes.  On one eye I has slight creasing (and I mean just the slightest) but on the other eye I had none. I was happy because on my initial review I has used eye primer and the Color Tattoo shadow had creased almost immediately.

So, I take back the initial review and find that the shadow is probably worth the money as long as you let it dry down without blinking and make sure not to use anything else with it. Even though I still had the slightest bit of creasing it was still nice.

MAYBELLINE COLOR TATTOO 24 HOUR CREAM SHADOW. HMMM…

    100_9875

Any time I a product that says it will work for 6, 12, or yet 24 hours I (gasp) actually expect the product to do its job and work for that long. Yes, I know I must be dreaming. The cosmetic world is feeding me a load of hooey.

The other day I saw that Maybelline had come out with Color Tattoo cream eyeshadow I was hopeful for something that would actually work for 24 hours, but let’s face it at least through the day! I bought Pomegranate Punk (shimmery burgundy) and Painted Purple (bright slightly shimmery purple).

    100_9862100_9868100_9872100_9870100_9871

I applied the Painted Purple color over an NYX eyeshadow primer. I did notice right away that the color started to crease. Okay, not good! So I powdered over it and then applied more of the cream shadow. This seemed to work better and the shadow wore pretty well throughout the day. I think that when I try the burgundy color I will not use a primer and see how it goes. Possibly the primer makes the lid a little too oily which causes the creasing. Creasing IS caused by lid oiliness, hence the need for primer. But cream shadows are different and you can get by without using a primer with them if you feel the need. I just like the idea of using one all the time. If anyone else has used the Color Tattoo product I would love to hear your results!

MAYBELLINE DREAM NUDE AIRFOAM AND REVLON PHOTOREADRY AIRBRUSH FOUNDATIONS

    100_9720100_9721
I am a big fan of Maybelline’s Dream Nude foundations. This line must be popular with many people since they keep adding to it with different types of foundations. I especially like the Dream Nude Mousse. So I was intrigued to find the new Dream Nude Airfoam. It is $10.99 at Walgreens without any specials this week. I purchased Porcelain Ivory since I am very fair. It has a SPF 16 sunscreen in it, but given that the sunscreen is chemical, I would not count on it for protection. Make sure to use a moisturizer or regular sunscreen with at least 30 in it underneath the foundation for the best protection.

The second foundation I am going to review is the Revlon Photoready Airbrush foundation, which is an extension of their Photoready line that is very popular. I found this in 001 Vanilla at Wal-Mart for $10.48. Unlike the Maybelline foundation, the Revlon one doesn’t have an SPF in it (highly unusual these days) so you will definitely need to wear at least a 15 or higher when using this.

Revlon on left, Maybelline on Right

This morning, 12/30/11, I decided to use the Maybelline Dream Nude Mousse. The instructions are very specific: shake, hold can upright and dispense onto a tissue the first time. I didn’t follow them. I went ahead and dispensed onto my sponge. Because I have issues with my right hand I found it hard to press the applicator. I am not sure if this will be an issue with everyone. I doubt it. Anyway, I pressed and a HUGE amount of product came out. It was very light at first and then it oxidized into the right color for my skin. Actually, the very first amount of product that came out was white but I threw that away. I found the foundation easy to blend into the skin. I did not, however, have much coverage. This disappointed me.

This afternoon I decided to try the Revlon Airbrush foundation. I must say that there is a major difference in this one. I shook it first and when it came out it was easier and the mousse was definitely less yellow. Also, there was less of it. For me, being slightly disabled right now, it is nice so that I don’t feel I am wasting so much product. When I applied it the mousse melded right into my skin and seemed to cover a little bit better than the Maybelline one.

When you have a mousse foundation you cannot expect it to cover like a liquid, that is the most important thing to remember. Also, because it is aerated, it will not have as much product in the container and will not last as long as other foundations. That said, it is a nice change of pace to have a mousse foundation, similar to the ones that were around in the early 1990’s! I like the Revlon one better, as it has a better tone for my skin and better coverage. I would love to hear comments from you!

Much more impressed with the Revlon than the Mayelline. Tried the Maybelline again today and had same results: a ton of foam came out and it was very yellowish on my skin.. Tried Revlon yesterday on full face and loved it, the foam was more neutral and I didn't need a lot of it for my face to cover the entire thing. I do like the Revlon better.

Maybelline Great Lash Lots of Lashes

Without mascara my eyelashes are invisible. I wish I could show you but you wouldn’t be able to see them. They are like little wispy hairs. I am constantly on the lookout for the perfect mascara. I will buy any that says “volumizing” or “mega super tons of lashes”. Let it be known that I don’t like the regular Maybelline Great Lash. Yes, I know supposedly it is the secret of makeup artists everywhere. I used it once and found that it did nothing for me. So I never purchased the pink and green tube again. However…the other day I saw a cute display for Maybelline Great Lash Lots of Lashes. I said, hmmm. It’s volumizing. I like that in a mascara. A lot. So I bought it! I am now going to show you some weird pictures of my eyes with the mascara on that proves it does indeed give volume to my lashes. I bought Brownish Black. And I applied at least three coats to each eye on top and one coat on the bottom. I am not saying it is going to replace all of my other mascaras (afterall, I feel MAC makes the best mascaras), but it does do a better job than the regular Great Lash and I feel it is worth the money I paid. I paid around $7.00 at Walgreens. It is available at most drugstores.

maybelline great lash...or not so great lash??

<-----This is Maybelline's Great Lash Mascara. Its one of the most popular mascara's in the world. At least every single makeup artist has tried it..some have liked it, others have not. Personally, im not a big fan of it. The wand is too small for my liking and I find that it doesn't cooperate as well as other mascara's ive used. HOWEVER, being a makeup artist, I use a lot of disposable mascara wands on my clients ( I get mine from MAC COSMETICS you get 25 disposable wands for $7.00) . Ive found that using the mascara with a different wand works a lot better. The formula is fantastic and doesn't clump and with using the disposable wands, you get a nice natural lash. Its a super cheap mascara (only $5.49) but my opinion, unless you want to keep buying disposable wands, find a mascara that'll work better, wand, formula and all.Source URL: https://makeupjunkee.blogspot.com/search/label/Maybelline
